Regardless of any braking system, the brake pad (disc type) or brake shoe (drum type) will finally complete the braking effect. Therefore, regularly check the thickness of the brake pads or brake shoes. When it is found that its thickness is close to or less than the minimum thickness specified by the manufacturer, it shall be replaced immediately. At the same time of checking the brake pad, check the wear of the brake disc or brake drum. If there is any dent on the contact surface, timely check the disc or brake drum to ensure that the contact area with the brake pad increases the braking force.

For oil brake vehicles, check the brake oil level before driving. If the oil level drops, immediately check the brake oil circuit for leakage. The brake oil will fail after a long time because it absorbs the moisture in the air. Change the brake oil regularly according to the manufacturer's regulations. It is better to replace it once a year.

Brake oil tank

For the air brake system, pay attention to regularly drain the water in the system and replace the dryer regularly. The moisture in the air system will corrode the pipeline and affect the braking effect. In serious cases, it can even lead to brake system failure. In addition, check the working condition of the air pump and the wear of the air pump belt frequently. If any problem is found, it shall be replaced in time.

Brake pad replacement cycle

Generally, we will judge whether the brake warning light on the instrument panel is on, but this is the final bottom line. If we change it at this time, it is quite dangerous. You should be reminded that although all vehicles have this warning system, some of them directly sense the thickness of the brake shoes, some of them will light up the warning light only when the brake shoes have been completely worn out and the brake fluid drops extremely. If it is the latter, when the warning light is on, the metal base of the brake pad and the brake disc are already in the iron grinding state, at this time, the bright Iron Chipping can be seen near the rim edge of the tyre. Therefore, it is necessary to check whether the brake pads can be used when entering the factory for maintenance, and replace the brake pads close to the life limit in advance, instead of only believing in the warning light.

Daily maintenance of brake system

Clean and high quality brake fluid is the basis of safety and good brake system performance. You should always buy the best quality brake fluid on the market. If the brake fluid is dirty, drain and flush the entire system, then fill the master cylinder with new fluid. Do not reuse the brake oil. All the brake fluid discharged from the system should be discarded.

In the maintenance of the brake system, it is the most important to check the brake fluid level regularly. Check it at least once a month, more times will be better.

Inhalation of asbestos dust is very harmful to your health. When using dry brush or compressed air to remove the dust and dirt on the brake system, it will raise dust. Because it is very easy to contain asbestos fiber, it is easy to damage health. Dust and dirt should be treated with a vacuum cleaner designed to remove asbestos, and dust-proof mode should be used. If there is no vacuum cleaner, maintain the brake assembly in a well ventilated place with a certified respirator.

Before checking the brake, carefully wipe the dirt on the master cylinder to avoid any dirt falling into the oil tank. Remove fasteners (usually pins) and covers. For the cylinder without scale, keep the liquid level 6 mm from the top of the cylinder. If there is scale, just keep the liquid level higher than the scale. If the master cylinder needs to be refueled, please add heavy-duty brake oil conforming to dot3 or 4 specifications.

Be careful not to base the brake fluid on the paint because it is very corrosive and will damage the finish.

In a long period of time, if there is always a shortage of brake oil and you are always adding it, it is obvious that there is something wrong with your brake system. You should check it. The color of the brake oil also warns. The brake oil should not be too dark or burnt. If that's the case, there's a problem, but it won't happen often. Take good care of your brake system.
